This week, our RAP Champion Geoff Timpson and RAP working group members Tim Shirley and Craig Morton were pleased to join two NAIDOC Week celebrations on Dharawal Country, including Camden Council’s Flag Raising Ceremony and community event at Oran Park, and the NAIDOC Community Festival at Gunnamatta Park, Cronulla, hosted by Sutherland Shire Council in partnership with Kurranulla Aboriginal Corporation.

The 2026 theme, 50 Years of Deadly, marks five decades of NAIDOC Week, a tribute to the Elders, organisers, artists and communities who have carried the movement forward, year after year.

At both events, the generosity of that cultural sharing was on full display, from the Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony through to live performances, workshops, Aboriginal goods stallholders, and storytelling.

Thank you to the organisers and participants at both events for sharing their stories, culture and time with us this week.
