Our Values

At Waratah we value relationships, collaboration, and quality. We treat every property we work on as if it were our own and we're proud to care for the communities in which we operate.

Responsive and Collaborative

At WGS we take the time to establish our clients’ needs and gain an understanding of the site and its logistical and environmental requirements. By assessing the needs of our clients, project stakeholders and the wider community, we can create a program of works that benefits all parties, and adds value to your property. We get things right the first time, through efficient, cost-effective service delivery.

Thorough

Our successful track record is built on a framework involving planning, structuring our approach and meeting with and reporting to our clients. Working through these steps methodically and consultatively, we support our clients and the environment with our wide-ranging horticultural expertise. Through our performance reporting framework, we drive the continuous improvement of our services and outcomes.

Trusted

Central to developing strong client relationships is maintaining access to the senior management team. As a local company staffed by 100% in-house labour, our team is always on hand with detailed project knowledge to provide advice or rectify any issues as soon as possible.

Caring and Proud

We care for the environment and implement ongoing, proactive structures to remain in line with best practice sustainability guidelines. We’re proud of our team and always put safety first. We ensure our team are fully trained, have the best equipment for the job, are covid-safe and fully supported.

Growing Together: Art and trees unite the Randwick community

Recently, a group of local young artists celebrated the significance of trees by creating artwork to support Randwick City Council’s ‘Greening our City’ initiative. Their unique creations will accompany the trees as they grow.

Over the past few months, the council has engaged Waratah Group Services (WGS) to plant 2,000 native trees in the Randwick local government area as part of the latest phase of this project.  WGS worked closely with the Council and also initiated a community outreach program to foster a deeper connection between the trees and residents.

Waratah team members Craig and Beres brought the program to life for local primary school students by explaining the vital role trees play in the environment. The students eagerly shared their reasons for loving trees, adding their voices to the conversation. WGS donated trees and shrubs, and children took part in the planting process, greening their school environment.

The students’ enthusiasm reached new heights when they engaged in a unique art project. They captured the vibrancy of the trees through their drawings on eco-friendly corflutes, which will be placed on the stakes around the new plantings. These unique tree-stake artworks will protect and identify the young trees as they grow, ensuring the community’s efforts are well-supported.

As Randwick City’s ‘Greening our City’ initiative continues to unfold, it is clear that this collaborative effort is more than just about planting trees. It’s about cultivating a deeper connection between the community and the environment, nurturing not only the growth of new trees but also the imagination and involvement of local students and the broader community.

WGS Supports National Tree Day

Waratah Group Services is a keen supporter of Planet Ark’s National Tree Day. Each year we join the many Australians who volunteer their time to take part in National Tree Day environmental activities.

In 2023 we invited the residents of Harrington Grove estate in Sydney to be involved in a special activity to mark the day, planting the hundreds of tree seedlings we donated. Families joined in to plant, mulch and protect the seedlings that will form a native tree canopy in the future.

As experienced Landscaping and Arborist Services providers, the Waratah Group team are keen supporters of trees in our landscapes. Trees beautify areas, reduce erosion, provide shade, filter air and help counter the impact of climate variations.

Community Jobs Initiative

WGS proudly supports the Link Wentworth’s community jobs initiative, providing training for your young people within the community.

In addition to providing Landscape Maintenance and Arboriculture Services across their sites, the business is part of Link Wentworth’s community jobs initiative. As part of this program, WGS provides hands on training & support for young people from within the community, giving them the tools, skills and confidence to help us provide landscape maintenance on Link Wentworth Community Housing sites.

Founder and CEO Geoff Timpson believes “It’s so important for us to give back to the community in which we operate, giving people the training and support to build their future. It really does have a flow on effect to the broader community.”  Under Geoff’s leadership, we develop their landscape maintenance skills, teaching participants about safe work practices, working in a team to achieve shared outcomes and cultivating pride in their work. This program builds confidence and maturity in the young people who participate, give them a reason to work hard and we also offer Apprenticeship Roles within our team to young people who are successful in the program.

Rewarding for both the participants and our team who supervise, coach and encourage them, this program creates a step change in these young people’s confidence and a positive outlook for their future.

Environmental Commitment

WGS is committed to caring for the environment.

We create a unique and tailored environmental management system for each property we work with, developing a sustainable and site appropriate approach to Landscaping and Arborist Services.

With ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Certification, we pride ourselves on having an environmentally safe and sustainable workplace at all times. Our trained team and quality machinery support our environmental commitment with log splitting attachments, soil recycling and mulching capabilities. WGS abides by Environmental Protection Authority regulations; national, state and local authority requirements; development application requirements and consent conditions at all of our sites.
